Even though the Oct. 12 deadline to mail in Idaho voting registration has passed, those wanting to vote still have time to register for the upcoming November elections.
Voters will be able to register at the polls Nov. 6. To register, photo identification with proof of residency is required. Proof of residency could be something like a bill addressed to the voter or a driver’s license. Voters must also have lived at least 30 days in the county before the election, be at least 18 years old and a citizen of the United States.
Voting early is still an option. Residents of Bannock County can in-person absentee vote at the county clerk’s office inside the Bannock County Courthouse, located at 624 E. Center in Pocatello.
According to Idaho’s election law, a registered person wishing to vote the day of the election can do so without photo identification, as long as the person signs a Personal Identification Affidavit. Be warned: the law states, “Any person who knowingly provides false, erroneous or inaccurate information on such affidavit shall be guilty of a felony.”
