Southeastern Idaho Public Health officials will be conducting a public health emergency exercise, on May 1, to exercise their ability to provide mass vaccination and treatment.
The university community is invited and encouraged to go to the Point of Dispensing (POD) site, on May 1 between 1 and 3 p.m., at the LDS Institute on the Idaho State University campus to act as “fake patients” who will go through the process to receive mock medications.
This exercise helps the health district staff and volunteers train for emergencies and the public learns what to expect in this type of event.
The exercise is part of a statewide effort to review processes and procedures to provide medications or vaccinations to the public in response to a public health emergency such as epidemic or pandemic, man-made or natural disaster, or a bio-terrorism event.
This type of exercise also builds working partnerships throughout the community that are helpful during any type of emergency or disaster.
