Bengals Gain National Attention

Josh Hill gets a first down against Montana University on Saturday, Oct. 27.

The Idaho State Bengals have been thrown into the media spotlight in recent weeks for reasons that should make students proud.
Former ISU football player Josh Hill was selected to play in the East-West Shrine game on Jan. 18.
The game is played in front of NFL scouts and Hill will be the fourth Bengal to play in the game. The three other Bengals that played in the game, Matt Courtney, Jared Allen and Matt Gutierrez, all played in the NFL.
In other news, ISU men’s basketball player Chris Hansen’s full court shot was featured on NBC sports college basketball.
After the game when asked if the Bengals ever practice full-court shots in practice the sophomore forward laughed and said, “No, if coach ever saw us practicing those shots, we’d probably have to run laps.”
ISU was recognized by a national website, thebestcolleges.org, as having the smartest athletes on campus.  Our athletes had a collective 3.18 GPA for the 2012 fall semester and it was the sixth consecutive semester they collectively achieved a 3.0 or higher. More than a third of the school’s 315 student athletes had grade points of at least 3.5.
