The Idaho State golf team wrapped up the 2018-19 season this past Sunday in the final round of the Big Sky Conference Championship at Boulder Creek Golf Course. The Bengals had one of their best performances in program history.

The team shot a 958 for the three rounds, which tied for the third best score in a Big Sky Championship and it tied for the sixth best score out of any tournament played.

Idaho State shot a 315 in round 3, which was the second best round played in the Big Sky Conference Championship, two strokes off the record of 313 in 2006.

“For the returners this shows them that we are really going to make a difference here in the next several years,” Idaho State coach Dallen Atkins said. “It is going to be a whole new team. You will still be writing down a lot of stats and keeping alot of records because I believe we are going to make some noise. It is going to be tough to lose the seniors but it is going to be fun to look back and laugh about the 11’s we took or the double bogey’s or the little mistakes that we made. We will get in the van and talk for two hours about rounds and laugh about things. It is a good learning experience for these girls. It gets them excited to say that ‘I am going to go home and work really hard this summer and come back in the fall firing on all cylinders.”

Tya Seth led the Bengals with a 227 after a shooting a 71 in round 3. Seth’s 71 tied for the best round in Idaho State history. Shari Humbke also shot a 71 in the Bengal Classic in 1997. Her 227 was the second lowest score by a Bengal in the Big Sky Conference Championship and it put her in 24th place for the tournament.

Freshman Tyler Erickson finished her first Big Sky Conference Championship shooting a 239 (77-80-82).

Senior Brooke Williams had her best round of the tournament by shooting an 83. She finished the tournament with a 255 (85-87-83). Williams 255 was her best score in her career at the Big Sky Championship and in her career of competing in events at Boulder Creek.

Abby Kadrmas finished her final round as a Bengal by shooting a 79 in round 3. She finished the tournament shooting a 246 (83-84-79). Kadrmas’ score of 246 was her best score at the Big Sky Conference Championship and it was one stroke away from tying her top score in events played at Boulder Creek Golf Course.

Hadley Hersh finished the tournament shooting a 249 (83-80-86).

“We played great for our program and we know the future is so bright,” Atkins said. “We are excited to have Tya and Tyler, who are just so steady, who can have those small mistakes and still shoot low and hang with any of them. With our recruiting class coming in we are going to be someone to watch in the next few years.”
