Idaho State’s interim athletic director, Pauline Thiros, is now being considered for the full-time athletic director position.

Thiros has been the interim athletic director since the dismissal of Jeff Tingey earlier in the school year.

President Kevin Satterlee released a statement to faculty and staff on this decision to place Thiros into consideration.

“Before I appointed Pauline Thiros as interim athletic director, she and I had a discussion and came to an understanding that she would be a true interim only,” the statement read. “However, in making that decision, I did not realize how well she was going to do the job. So, recently, Pauline and I had a discussion and decided that she has done the job in such a fine manner that she deserves a chance to compete for the position permanently.”

Thiros has made quite an impact in athletics during her short time as interim athletic director by building a good relationship with all those around her.

“Pauline is clearly a relationship builder,” President Satterlee said. “It is important that the athletic department build its relationship in our community. Pauline is also a competitor who strives for excellence. Building excellence into the very core of the athletic department is also important. I have received numerous positive comments regarding how Pauline has performed in the interim position. More importantly, I have personally worked with her and observed her performance.”

Even though Thiros has earned the right to be considered for the full-time position, there will still be an extensive search for the new athletic director.

“Idaho State needs to hire the best person for the position,” President Satterlee said. “The person who will bring the right work ethic, the right moral compass and a commitment to excellence in the athletic department—the commitment that Bengal Athletics needs to make us all proud.”

President Satterlee mentioned that more details on the search will be coming out soon.
