Start wearing your ISU gear instead
What if you were surcharged ten percent of all your purchases while wearing other university clothing, especially from Boise State? Would that make a difference in your Idaho State University school pride?
Wearing orange and black shows you are glad you attend a university that is known for having better academics than that other school.
As ISU students, we get perks and discounts on Bengal Wednesdays when we wear orange or black ISU gear.
You made a good decision to come to ISU, perhaps because you knew you could receive a more valuable degree, and less expensively than a lot of other places.
Here in Pocatello, our ASISU leadership is encouraging local community businesses to offer discounts and other recognition to ISU students on Bengal Wednesday when they wear the school colors.
Think of it this way; it’s not considered polite to eat McDonald’s food while you are sitting at Taco Bell. You would be asked to leave if you kept doing it. Why wear BSU clothing when you attend ISU?
If you’re such a great BSU fan, perhaps you should move west and go to school there. Most of us are working hard to make ISU a good place to go to school.
Spend your money locally, support the Pocatello economy, and support ISU by showing some Bengal pride.
Just because our football team is having a few bad seasons doesn’t mean we go to a bad school. Regarding sports, we have many true contenders in other athletic programs.
For a most recent example, look at our women’s soccer team. Just this last Sunday they became Big Sky champions after a hard-fought game against Montana. (Great job, ladies!)
This school also excels in other areas; ask your classmates who are getting hired out of school because of our Career Path Internship program.
You have many reasons to show some Bengal pride.
Break out of your shell. Develop some friendships with other people here at school instead of acting like you have loyalties elsewhere. Join a club, attend a concert or watch a free movie.
Show some commitment to what you started at ISU; by outwardly saying to the world you’re working hard to better yourself and your future. Quit pretending you’re a Bronco when you’re really a Bengal.
Do yourself a favor. Ship your BSU clothing back home to your parents, then see how much you want to wear it once you graduate. You won’t be here for long, and if you have a jones to hold onto them you can wear those other clothes after you graduate.
Blue and orange isn’t going to cheer for you when you cross the stage at your graduation commencement. Orange and black will. Lose the blue and orange. You’ll be glad you did.
