Men’s Tennis:

Weber State 6, ISU 1

The men’s tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision at Weber State. The Bengals dropped the doubles point and picked up one singles win in the loss.

ISU 6, North Dakota 1

The men’s tennis team snapped a five-match losing streak with a 6-1 win over North Dakota at the Choice Health & Fitness courts in Grand Forks, N.D.

ISU 6, Northern Colorado 1

The men’s tennis team won its second straight match with a convincing 6-1 win over Northern Colorado in Greeley Saturday afternoon. The Bengals swept doubles play and dropped just one singles match in the win.

Women’s Tennis:

Air Force 5, ISU 2

The women’s tennis team fell 5-2 to Air Force in a neutral site match Saturday afternoon in Boise, Idaho. The Bengals were swept in doubles play and dropped four-of-six singles matches to give the Falcons the win.

Eastern Washington 4, ISU 3

The women’s tennis team dropped its first conference match Monday evening with a 4-3 loss at Eastern Washington.

Idaho 6, ISU 1

The women’s tennis team fell to Idaho 6-1 in Lewiston, Idaho Tuesday afternoon. The Bengals drop to 5-9 on the season with a 3-2 mark in Big Sky play.

ISU 6, Lewis-Clark State 1

The women’s tennis team got back on the winning track in style, defeating Lewis-Clark State College 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon. After dropping the doubles point, the Bengals swept singles play for the commanding victory.

Softball:

Texas Tech 7, ISU 1

Haley Harrison and Ashlyn Ames went 3-of-4 at the plate while Emma Bordenkecher and Makenzie VanSickle each had one hit.

Ames took the loss in the circle. She tossed a complete game, scattering nine hits, walking three and striking out seven.

Texas Tech 5, ISU 1

The game was scoreless through three innings, but the Red Raiders then took a 1-0 lead in bottom of the fourth inning. ISU tied it at one in the top of the fifth.

Texas Tech then scored one run in the bottom of the fifth inning and three in the sixth to take the 5-1 lead.

Mariah Mulcahy took the loss against Texas Tech.

ISU 6, Purdue 1

Danni Ryan earned the win as she went three innings on the day, allowed three hits and one run while striking out two.

Shayna Dahlen had two hits and one RBI. Frankie Tago’s only hit was a three-run homer. Ashlyn Ames pitched the final five innings and did not allow a run while only giving up four hits.

Purdue scored its only run of the game in the third inning and the Bengals added three runs in the sixth on Tago’s three-run blast.

ISU 3, Purdue 0

Mariah Mulcahy pitched a complete game, allowing only four hits and striking out five while walking one.

The game was scoreless through three innings and then ISU scored a run in the fourth inning to take a 1-0 lead.

ISU then scored two runs in the sixth inning to take the 3-0 lead.

ISU had five hits from five different Bengals. Bordenkecher had two RBIs.

UC Riverside 2, ISU 1

The game was scoreless through four innings and ISU jumped on the board first with a run in the fifth inning. But UCR scored two in the bottom half of the inning to earn the win.

The Bengals had a chance to retake the lead in the seventh, but couldn’t convert after the first two runners of the inning reached base. UCR struck out the next two Bengal batters and caught a Bengal runner stealing to end the game.

ISU 7, Utah State 5

Ashlyn Ames pitched a complete game, allowing eight hits, five runs, one walk and four strikeouts.

Utah State led 1-0 after the first inning, but the Bengals scored a run in the second and third inning to take a 2-1 lead after the top of the third inning.

Makenzie VanSickle led the third off with a single to center field and she would later score on a double by Ames.

Utah State scored two runs in the third to take a 3-2 lead, but ISU countered with a five-run fifth inning to take a 7-3 lead. All five runs came on only one hit.

Utah Valley 3, ISU 1

ISU had seven hits but committed three errors and left 11 runners on base.

VanSickle was 2-of-3 while Kelsey Breer was 2-of-3 and scored one run. Ames was 2-4 with an RBI.

Utah Valley led the entire game.

Montana 1, ISU 0; UM 6, ISU 1

The Bengals lost 1-0 and 6-1 to Montana on last Saturday afternoon in the home opener at Miller Ranch Stadium.

Ames took the loss in the 1-0 game, pitching seven innings, allowing four hits, one run, two walks and striking out five.

Mulcahy took the loss in the second game, allowing seven hits, six runs (two earned), five walks and three strikeouts.

While the pitching kept ISU in the game, the bats struggled.

ISU had only seven hits in the two games. All seven hits came from seven different players. The Montana offense had only 11 hits and combined to hit .208 in the two games

In the first game, Montana scored its only run in the first inning. The Bengals had a chance to win the game as they had the winning run on second base in the seventh inning but Griz pitcher Michaela Hood got her team out of the jam to earn the win. Hood struck out seven in the complete game win.

In the second game, Montana led 3-0 after five innings. Ames hit a homer in the sixth inning but Montana tacked three more runs on the scoreboard in the seventh inning.

Montana 4, ISU 2

The Bengals had the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning but the rally fell short, allowing Montana to earn a 4-2 victory and sweep the three-game series over the Bengals.

Montana led 3-0 after the first inning.
