Currently, Idaho State University is engaged in a search to fill several open administration positions. These spots include Vice President for University Advancement, Vice President for Research and Economic Development, Dean of the College of Business, and Dean of the Graduate School, with the first two positions expected to be filled in fall 2019.

Future searches include Dean of the College of Education, Dean of the Library, and Dean of the College of Nursing.

These positions have been left open due to unplanned leaves from positions, plans to retire, or in the case of the Dean of Education, a tragic passing away. The search for a new person to take on the role of the Dean of the Library is expected to start sometime in January 2020.

These positions have been available for varying times. With some available since the end of last year and others open for little over a year.

“Currently, a number of the positions are held by interim employees, which means they are not permanent,” said Stuart Summers, Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communications. “Having a permanent person in the position allows for long-term strategic planning and vision for colleges and divisions. While there is not an impact to the services and daily operations of the University, we want to make sure the positions are filled in a timely manner.”

These positions may take some time to fill.

“We want to make sure we attract a qualified and diverse applicant pool to all searches,” Summers said. “We also use search firms in many of our senior leadership positions to help us find a quality pool of applicants.”

The process for each position requires assembling a search committee and the review of applicants.
