ISU Kostume Fun Run Funds SPTA

Start the Halloween celebration early by participating in Idaho State University’s Kostume Fun Run on Saturday, Oct. 27.
The run, which starts at 10 a.m. at Reed Gym, also includes a costume contest with prizes, and activities for kids.
Participants have the option of completing a 2.5K, 5K or 10K.
The fun run is sponsored by the ISU Wellness Center and the Student Physical Therapy Association (SPTA).
“We really just want to get people out to have fun,” said Adrianne Jensen, a member of the SPTA who helped coordinate the event. “It is a family-friendly event to encourage physical activity of the family.”
Participants are encouraged to wear costumes and bring the whole family, including pets.
According to Rhonda D’Amico, Interim Director of the Wellness Center, some participants brought dogs in the past, so this year they’re encouraging owners to bring their pets in costumes. However, pets must be on a leash and owners should carry potty bags, which will be available.
There will be a costume contest with prizes awarded to the winners, though for safety reasons, participants should not wear masks that cover the face and/or eyes during the event.
“We’re going to have a lot of great giveaways,” D’Amico said. She added that prizes were donated by community members, and include items such as a room at the Black Swan, and family passes for Lava Hot Springs.
There will be activities for younger kids, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Kids can make foam pumpkin decorations and haunted houses. There will also be booths, pumpkin bowling, a ring toss, and beanbag throw.
We’re really excited to offer this to ISU students and community members, for the social aspect of it and being able to give to the Student Physical Therapy Association,” D’Amico said.
“And we’re all going to get to work out,” she added.
Same-day registration is at 9 a.m. in the Reed Gym Lobby. Registration forms are also on the Wellness Center’s website and can be returned with either cash or a check. It costs $7 for participants 13 years and older, and $2 for children 12 and under. The cost is an additional $5 for a t-shirt.
Proceeds will go to the SPTA to pay for things such as board prep books, and helping students go to conferences.
