Are you looking for something to watch this week?

Here are The Bengal’s “Flix Pix” of the week on Hulu, Netflix and Amazon Prime.

HULU: United Shades of America

This is a comedic reality and documentary style series starring W. Kamau Bell, who is also a producer on the show. Bell was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program and is a politically controversial stand up comic. This show takes a bit of a bold, twisted angle on some of today’s most taboo issues.

Bell uses humour to buffer the subject matter while he travels across the country engaging in daring investigative adventures. His premise is to present a deeper awareness and an inside look at these issues.

For example, Bell, an African American, met with several KKK members in one episode. He shared a meal with them and then joined them at a cross-burning ceremony. He did this all on camera for the show.

A very interesting series and worth investing some entertainment time on.

AMAZON PRIME: Unbranded

Regarding the preservation and adoption of the American wild mustang, this traditional documentary started with four recently graduated college friends from Texas with sixteen mustang horses and a dream–the dream to dramatically raise awareness of the issues surrounding these beautiful animals. The idea is to transport a band of previously wild horses and a burro from the border of Mexico across the length the U.S. to the Canadian border. They do this the authentic (as possible) cowboy way: by riding them.

Quite a revealing adventure.

NETFLIX: “Underdogs”

On a lighter note, this vividly colorful Pixar-style flick stars the voices of Ariana Grande, Matthew Morrison and Nicholas Hoult. The film centers around a boy, a foosball table whose players come alive when a tear drop splashes on them, a love interest, a bully and soccer.

Decent entertainment on a day meant for relaxing.
