FBI Data Center for $100 million to help the economy in southeast Idaho

On November 18, 2019, the FBI Center in Pocatello was officially opened after 2 years of renovations. According to FBI.gov, the purpose of the new renovations of the center are to consolidate information from almost 100 data centers in the Department of Justice.

It will also provide about 250 additional jobs in the FBI Center from the original 300.

There will be 40,000 square feet for new office space and 140,000 square feet for the data center.

According to an analysis by the Department of Labor and Bannock Development Corp., the new jobs provided by the FBI Center are going to have a great economic impact on Southeast Idaho, generating about $65 million a year.

The center, also known as the “Grey Wolf,” will be used additionally by the US Marshal Service, the District Attorney, the Bureau of Prisons, and the Treasury Department.

There are two other data centers in Clarksburg, West Virginia and Sterling, Virginia. This Pocatello, Idaho center will be one of the main epicenters for data security in Washington, DC.

This center will provide a useful place for data to be collected, stored, and analyzed for generations to come.
