Dust off your Quidditch brooms and dig out your magic wands. Springfest is coming, and it’s “Harry Potter”-themed!

That’s right, a week full of free magical activities will be brought to you by the Student Activities Board. The events will run from Monday, March 10, to Friday, March 14.

Springfest kicks off on Monday with “A Day at Hogsmeade” in the Pond Student Union Ballroom starting at 6 p.m. Springfest shirts will be given away at the event.

“Hogsmeade is a little village in the ‘Harry Potter’ series, and so we are just going to have the different stores in the ballroom. There will be different activities at each one,” said Rasmussen.

Tuesday’s event, titled “Wizards Bingo,” begins at 7 p.m. in the SUB Ballroom. A limited number of “Harry Potter” scarves will be given out to those who arrive first.

A “Triwizard Tournament” will take place Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. in the SUB Ballroom. Snacks will be provided for the wizards intrepid enough to show their faces.

“We’re going to have three different tasks that they can do,” said Rasmussen. “We’re raffling off a Blu-ray player with the box set of ‘Harry Potter,’ and a TV with a magic wand remote.”

Cadet Field will host a Quidditch tournament beginning at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Teams are required to pre-register in the Student Involvement Center before March 7 to compete.

“You have to have seven people per team, but we’re allowing you to have up to 10, so you can have some alternates if you want,” said Rasmussen.

Quidditch shirts and cowbells will be available for those who dare attend.

Friday’s event is “Search for the Chamber of Secrets,” and will take place in the Rendezvous Suites beginning at 6 p.m.

It will be similar to the Spirit Log Hunt, which takes place during homecoming, but, unlike the log hunt, there will be butterbeer floats.

“It’s a mini-scavenger hunt, and then once they get to the Chamber of Secrets, we’re going to have a little party going on,” said Rasmussen. “We’re going to watch a movie, eat some food. It’s going to be fun.”

Keep an eye out for SAB and Student Involvement Center members during the week of Springfest dressed up as characters from the Harry Potter universe.

“If they find us around campus, they can come up to us, and we will give them a prize,” said Rasmussen. “We’ll post a picture of us on our Facebook: ISU SAB.”
