Bengals battle through rain at MSU Cross Country Classic

The Idaho State cross country teams competed in the Montana State Cross Country Classic in Bozeman, Mont. on Saturday, Sept. 21. Despite wet conditions on the course, both teams battled on.

Men’s Meet

The men took the third place team finish competing against Montana State, Utah State, Montana, Rocky Mountain and Lethbridge College.

Senior Jesse Allen was the first to cross the finish line for the Bengals, running a five-mile race with a time of 25:13.50. He placed fifth overall and was the only Bengal to break into the top-10.

Joe Petty came in just after Allen running a time of 25:41.70. Zak Montoya, Spencer Nelson, and Garrett Condelario rounded out the Bengals top five finishers.

Women’s Meet

The women earned a fourth  place team finish competing against Montana State, Utah State, Montana, Rocky Mountain and Lethbridge College.

Junior Molly Olsen finished first for the Bengal women running a time of 17:58.0. Following just behind  at 18:03.50 was junior Katie Weedn. Rachel McGovern, Madi Kenyon, and Mya McKown  rounded out the last three spots in the top-five finishers for Idaho State.

Looking Ahead

Next week on Sept. 28, the Bengal cross country teams are back in Pocatello as they host the Idaho State Invitational.

The 2019 meet will be held at the Centennial Cross-Country Course which  received a major facelift this year. The men’s race will begin at 9 a.m. and the women will follow at 9:30 a.m.

This meet also features a free pancake breakfast for all in attendance which will begin at 8:30 a.m.
