As the end of the school year draws nearer, it is time to elect next year’s members of the Associated Students of Idaho State University (ASISU).

ASISU provides a voice for ISU students. It also supports other campus organizations.

16 positions are up for election, including Student Body President and Vice President. Senators from ISU’s various colleges will also be elected.

Candidates are running as independent, or as a member of the Orange Party or the Pride Party.

The presidential and vice presidential candidates must run as partners on the same ticket.

Elections will be held from March 12-14. Students can vote for the executive positions, as well as the senator from their college, during this time. Voting can be done online.

Speeches for senator candidates were held at noon on March 5 and 6. Executive speeches were held at noon on March 7.

Recordings of the speeches can be found on ASISU’s YouTube page.

“I want to represent my colleagues and be an active voice for the (campus community),” said College of Pharmacy senator candidate Christopher Nartker.

Running on the Executive ticket are Camdon Kay and Kiran Pandey of the Pride Party, as well as Rituraj Yadav and Krystoff Kissoon of the Orange Party.

“We feel as though the term ‘Bengals’ means represents more than just a group of friends and acquaintances, but rather a family as a whole,” Kay said.

The Student Body President Typically meets with President Satterlee weekly.

“Helping President Satterlee in his endeavors to foster tradition and revitalize student life on campus will be a priority,” Kay said.

Christopher Nartker and College of Education senator candidate Elizabeth Breuker are running unopposed.

Results of the election are tentatively scheduled to be announced by 7:00 pm on March 15.
