Veterans Day Observance

At 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, the Idaho State University Armed Forces Veterans Club and Veterans’ Sanctuary held a reading of the names on Cadet Field of those killed in the Vietnam War.
The reading, which was part of a national event, consisted of 217 names of soldiers from Idaho. Representatives from each state were asked to read the name of their fallen soldiers in conjunction with the reading that takes place in Washington, D.C., at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall.
ISU’s event took place in front of the Veterans Memorial that was dedicated last year on Veterans Day. The memorial consolidated several others that were previously scattered throughout campus.
Though Veterans Day is usually recognized on Nov. 11, the holiday fell on a Sunday this year and was nationally observed Monday, Nov. 12.
