It’s Spooky Season!

Now that the Fall semester is in full swing, many students, including myself, have only one thing on their minds: Halloween. For many, October is one of the most anticipated months of the year. End of summer and the beginning of the semester can be a busy time, but it would be a shame to miss out on the Autumn season. The changing seasons offer many new and exciting opportunities and activities in the surrounding areas. Whether or not you are a fan of the spooky season, there are sure to be activities for people of all ages to enjoy.

If you are a parent or simply enjoy an evening outside in the crisp fall air, a corn maze might be the best option for you. One of the most well-known farms in this area, Swore Farms, offers a public corn maze annually. The maze is open from September 28th to October 31st. Swore Farms has other fun attractions, such as hay wagon rides, pumpkin picking, and food trucks. The farm is open Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Their affordable ticket prices make this a large-family-friendly event. For more information on the farm’s offerings, visit their facebook page at Swore Farms

If you are looking for something a little more thrilling, there are also numerous haunted attractions in the area. Though it would take too much space to list all the haunted houses, there are definitely a few worth mentioning. One of the most popular attractions can be found a 90-minute drive away. With multiple houses, outdoor entertainment, and food – Albion is sure to entertain you. This haunted house runs every weekend from October 3rd to November 2nd. The house operates Thursday through Saturday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Keep in mind that Albion is one of the most visited haunted attractions in the area; with that being said, they strongly suggest purchasing tickets prior to your visit. Tickets can be purchased on their website, www.hauntedalbion.com. Tickets are on sale now, so be sure to check their website and secure your spot!

My favorite haunted attraction every year is the Haunted Mill in Rexburg. I am a big fan of the spooky season, and I have found that this haunted house in particular always meets my expectations. I can always count on a new scare waiting for me around every corner. Not only do you explore the Mill itself, but you are also taken through an underground mine, a maze, and even some wooded areas. The Mill operates beginning on the 27th of September. You can visit this attraction Fridays and Saturdays until Halloween. For more information on ticket prices and operation hours, visit their website at www.thehauntedmill.com

Be sure to get out this season and enjoy the changing leaves, fall chills, and spooky activities!
