Being a senator of ASISU is challenging and is a position that requires responsible leadership.
I have a strong desire to be part of organizations that help in every possible way to the community. It gives me satisfaction as well as a chance to formulate positive change.
When I came to ISU, I was first elected to the board of the Nepalese Student Association and later to other organizations where I learned that the boards in these confederations are in need of financial support every year.
A senator can go and talk to people and observe organizations and help them. I want to make the College Arts and Letters a unique and an ideal academy for all enthusiastic scholars.
We have eight subjects under the College of Arts and Letters. Are these departments able to provide hands-on experience along with academics to scholars? Of course, but not in some ways. My plan is to go talk to the dean about the possible changes. It’s important to manipulate the traditional education system and step ahead. Students normally have a diverse interest in the involvement on campus and I will go and see if we can open an organization depending on students’ choice.
I’m a multi-platform journalism student, but there’s little opportunity to get involved with a club related to my field. Every semester, new students are enrolled at ISU, but countless of them are unaware of these opportunities.
My plan is to create a survey and observe their interests in joining a club, or find out what types of clubs they are interested in. This would give me a general idea of what types of students are in the college. If new clubs have to be opened, I will work on updating the constitution. The whole point of doing this is to benefit the student’s academic success and enlighten the advantages of holding a degree.
But I will not merely be concerned with my college. I will also get involved in interparliamentary cooperation. People from other colleges may have a strong idea too and I want to communicate, know those folks, and imply their voices in the constitutions.
Empowering the education of College of Arts and Letters is the other major action of my planning list. I want to make people be optimistic about getting liberal arts degrees since there are numerous opportunities out there for graduate students from the college.
There’s an online voting system to choose your best senator. It opens on March 12 and goes through March 14. Students need to log in their BengalWeb in order to vote.
Looking at the ASISU election results of last year makes me nervous. The College of Arts and Letters had 88 participants out of 1,312 students, which is 6.71 percent.
I, as a senator candidate, not only am glad to help my friends acquire all these ideas, but also am proud for the profundity of the message that I am giving.
