Thumbs up: Student discounts

When I found out you can get Hulu with a Spotify premium subscription, it blew my mind (look it up, it’s awesome). You have to sit through some commercials, but it’s well worth it considering you are paying no additional costs for it. On top of that, Spotify itself has a student discount, so it’s a win-win. There’s something like that for almost every subscription there is, which is clutch considering none of us have much money.

Thumbs down: North Dakota is considered a conference game

North Dakota isn’t in the conference anymore – they left for the Missouri Valley last season – but this Saturday’s game is still considered a conference game. So basically, if ISU loses on Saturday, they will be 0-1 in conference play without playing a team that’s in the Big Sky. How does that make any sense?

Thumbs up: Randy on South Park

By far the best character on the show. He fights other dads at little league baseball games, pretends to be a mall cop so he can get to the front of the line on Black Friday and continues an on-going lie with other nation’s leaders so Earth can its fictional keep space cash. We all know somebody like Randy, and the show pulls off his character to perfection.

Thumbs down: Mandalay Express

Its knock off version of Panda Express and half as good, yet the price is about the same. They soak everything in sauce to the point where it feels like I’m drinking my lunch instead of eating it and consider noodles to be an entrée. How are noodles not considered a side? Their meat is tasteless to the point where you can’t tell if you got beef or chicken and all their vegetables taste like teriyaki sauce. The only good dishes they have are orange and teriyaki chicken, but those are impossible to screw up.

Thumbs up: Hoodie weather

I broke out a hoodie for the first time last week. It’s the best time of the year weather wise. It’s not too cold and not too hot. The only downside is how short this window lasts. But while it’s here, we better enjoy it because before too long it will be too cold to go outside, and that Pocatello wind will go straight through all the layers clothing. Shorts and hoodie weather rules.

Thumbs down: No time to golf

I golfed a ton this summer, but now that school has started, and work has amped up, I no longer have time to even hit the driving range. I miss hitting golf balls into people’s yards, lakes and sand traps. It is somehow frustratingly relieving and I miss it.

Compensation climbs career ladder: For ISU faculty, position determines pay

Wed Sep 26 , 2018
Madison Shumway Life Editor Last week’s installment of The Bengal’s series analyzing the salaries of ISU administrators and faculty confirmed that field influences pay. Business professors make more than professors in the health professions, and health professions professors make more than professors in humanities. The report also found that even […]
