Thumbs up: New direction for athletics

I know I pump up President Satterlee a lot in this column, but he’s been pushing ISU in the right direction ever since he got here. The change in direction of athletics is another step to putting ISU on the map. I think the change in leadership will benefit not only the athletic department, but ISU as a whole.

Thumbs down: Week 2 bye

ISU pretty much doesn’t have a bye week this year. I’m sure the players could really use a nice, long break after that grueling 45-10 win over Division II Western State Colorado. At least they have two weeks to prepare for Cal, I guess.

Thumbs up: Fifth Street Bagelry

There’s a reason that line is always long. The bagelry, located on 5th Street next to Jimmy John’s, is probably the best bagel place I have been to. The fact that I get to pick between a jalapeno bagel or a blue cheese bagel, among many other types, is pretty much all you need to know.

Thumbs down: Doing laundry

The part where you put the cloths in the washer and dryer isn’t bad, but folding cloths is arguably one of the worst parts of being an adult.

Thumbs up: Lyn Redington

I got a chance to meet the new Vice President of Student Affairs last week. Her listening sessions have shown she takes her job seriously and wants to put students first. That is what ISU needs, and every university, needs out of that position. Reddington was a great find.

Thumbs down: Slow left lane drivers

All I ask is that you go the speed limit. I don’t think I’m asking for a lot.
