Thumbs up: The new “IS” on 5th Street
It’s always nice to see some school spirit around campus and have people be proud to be a part of ISU. One thing I’ve noticed about the Satterlee Administration is there is a huge push on school spirit, which seemed to be missing under Vailas. The new Bengal-themed bus stops are a great addition to campus and the new interlocked “IS” logo in the middle of 5th Street painted last week between Goody’s and Elmer’s is another awesome aesthetic addition.
Thumbs down: Smoke
I haven’t seen the mountains since July, which sucks considering we live in a state that is known for being mountainous. I have had a constant headache and dry throat for at least a couple weeks now and sometimes it’s so smoky the sun disappears. It will be nice when fire season is over, and we can all breathe normally again.
Thumbs up: Football season
It’s better than Christmas. ISU football is back this Friday at the dome and I’m pretty excited about that. The Bengals return most key pieces on offense this season and this year’s home schedule is packed with what should be some pretty exciting games. The one I have circled is the Idaho game on Oct. 6. This Friday, fans are encouraged to wear white when the Bengals host Western State Colorado. On Saturday, you can guarantee that I will not be getting off my couch.
Thumbs down: Parking passes
I just hate having to pay close to $100 per year just to park my car. Normally, I don’t have much trouble finding a place to park, so the whole idea of supply and demand with parking doesn’t really fly as an excuse for me. It’s expensive and I don’t have a lot of money for expensive things.
Thumbs up: Free internet
Free stuff is cool. I always thought it was dumb how I had to pay $35 per semester just to use the internet. We already pay student fees and you cannot go to college and not use the internet. It felt like ISU was nickel and diming us before. This is another Satterlee change that has ISU going in the right direction.
Thumbs down: McDonald’s closed until October
I’ve never been a huge McDonald’s fan, but sometimes it’s nice to roll up and buy a 20-piece. But I can’t do that until it reopens in October. Hopefully when it reopens, it will be open during college hours and won’t close before midnight.
