The doubles team of Fynn Lohse and Lukas Ridemar have advanced to the eighth round at the ITA Division I Mountain Men Regional Championships.

The doubles tandem opened play by beating Russell Benkiam and Paul Mccallie of Utah 8-5. They then beat Felipe Acosta and Javier Ruiz of Utah State 8-3.

In round 16, Lohse and Ridemar beat Ignacio Crespo and Mattia Ros of Denver 8-3. In the quarter-finals they lost to James Davis and Matt Summers of Denver, 8-0.

“Doubles was very successful for us this weekend,” Lohse said. “We started with a big win over the University of Utah. Following that we played a flawless doubles against No. 8 seed from Utah State. After that, we played our first match against the University of Denver and continued playing really well. Today we played another team from Denver and started well pretty well but got unlucky in the first games. Our opponents played a perfect match and unfortunately we couldn’t build on our performances from the days before, even though we didn’t play bad.”

In singles play, Lohse lost 6-4, 6-1 to Mateo Vereau of BYU. He later lost 7-5, 6-2 to Jonathan Mascagni of Air Force.

RIdemar lost his opening singles match to Raul Dobai of New Mexico, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. He later beat Alexander Groves of NAU, 7-6 (2), 6-4.

Gary Rendek beat Jordan Azuma of Air Force, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. He later lost to Max Korkh of Montana, 6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-4.
