Men’s Tennis:

Boise State 4, ISU 3

The men’s tennis team battled Boise State Sunday evening at the Boas Tennis Complex before falling 4-3 to the Broncos.

Eastern Washington 4, ISU 3

The men’s tennis team fell at Eastern Washington 4-3 Saturday afternoon at the Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse in Cheney, Wash. The Bengals swept doubles play, but the Eagles won four-of-six singles matches to seal the win.

Women’s Tennis:

ISU 6, Montana State 1

The women’s tennis team got back on the winning track with a 6-1 win over visiting Montana State Sunday afternoon at the Reed Gym Tennis Courts.

Softball:

ISU 9, Utah State 7

The softball team won its third straight game, beating Utah State 9-7.

The Bengals had 11 hits and Mariah Mulcahy earned the win, pitching seven innings, allowing nine hits, three walks and she tied a career-high with nine strikeouts.

Haley Harrison was 2-for-3 with one RBI and three runs scored. Emma Bordenkecher was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and one run scored. Kelsey Breer had one home run and two RBIs. Shayna Dahlen was 2-for-2 and scored one run while Genesis Zamora also had two hits, one RBI and scored run.

Sacramento State 3, ISU 2

In what was the second longest game in Idaho State softball history and the third longest in Big Sky history, the Idaho State softball team lost  3-2 in a 12-inning game to Sacramento State on Friday afternoon.

The Bengals trailed 2-0 through five innings, but ISU scored a run in the sixth and seventh inning to send the game into extra innings.

Ashlyn Ames pitched all 12 innings, allowing 14 hits, walking only two and striking out nine. The Bengals were held to four hits by Celina Matthias, who also struck out 13 and walked only two.

ISU 6, Sacramento State 6

ISU 9, Sacramento State 0

For the second straight weekend the softball team took two of three games from the second-place team in the Big Sky Conference.

The Bengals had 18 hits and hit .391 on the day. Tago and Breer led the attack as each went 3-for-5 from the plate. Tago had two RBIs while Breer had one RBI and scored three runs.

Nine different Bengals had hits and seven players had two hits or more. Ames and Aubrey Creekmore each had a home run and Shayna Dahlen had four RBIs and two hits.

Ames earned the shutout in game 2, tossing a complete five inning game, allowing only two hits, two walks and three strikeouts.

Mariah Mulcahy earned the win in game 1, pitching a complete game, allowing seven hits, three runs, four walks and two strikeouts.
