The Idaho State University Student Activities Board will kick off its summer programming on May 29.
Four activities will be offered each week through August 7, excluding the week of July 4.
Ice cream, dog day and tie dye activities are just a few of the events you can look forward to.
Each event has been designed to appeal to a different demographic. There are events targeted at students, families and the community.
Anjel Zamora and Jessica Rahill from the SAB are the co-directors of summer programming for 2014 at ISU.
Zamora and Rahill served in the same capacity last summer.
“We were able to pick ideas for this summer that wouldn’t have worked over the school year or that didn’t work last year and form them to work this year,” said Rahill.
Many of the activities this summer will be offered for free to enrolled students.
The budget for these events comes from fees paid by summer students.
Tickets for Chukar games, Lava Hot Springs and the Pocatello Zoo will be given out at some of these events, and Lagoon tickets will be offered at reduced prices.
Students this summer can also look forward to a Lagoon Day.
“We take a bus to Lagoon, which is a lot of fun, and students can sign up for that. There is a ticket purchase but it is reduced. We will take you there if you want to ride the bus,” said Rahill.
Movies will be shown on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
ISU’s bowling alley will offer free bowling to students on Wednesdays.
Thursdays will be celebrated with a concert on the Quad.
Students may receive free food with valid Bengal IDs.
“These concerts are the traditional things that happen every year. We have coupled with the food bank and Benny’s Pantry. When you come to the concert, you can donate canned goods in exchange for promotional items,” said Zamora.
Shakespeare in the Parks will be coming on July 30 and 31; those days there will not be a concert.
“We try to keep the life on campus throughout the summer even though there are not a whole lot of students here. So stay on campus, see what’s happening and stay involved,” encouraged Rahill.
Watch for the summer calendar that will be made available within a month which will have information about events and special things that summer students can enjoy.
Keep an eye out for posters around campus as well and visit www.isu.edu/union/summer/ to get more information on summer events.
