Loving summer, but starting to think about your upcoming fall semester budget? Looking for some entertainment options to utilize during the semester that won’t break the bank? Here is your “Flix Pix” of the week special edition feature for the summer.
The staff here at The Bengal want to help you out a bit on your quest for the streaming options that will best suit you and your budget this school year.
If you’re trying to work out your finances and wanting to work in high-quality and inexpensive sources of entertainment, you are in luck. Here are some online viewing options that will fit into your limited budget.
NETFLIX:
This streaming service is considered a pioneer in online streaming services. Netflix is a very good option with numerous titles available and is simple to navigate. Netflix has a decent variety of content, attractive to viewers with wide interests.
Unfortunately, Netflix does not have a discount offer for students. However, at the base price of $7.99 a month, it is still a good option for students.
HULU:
Hulu has a deal for students that is available when paired with Spotify, a popular music streaming service. For $4.99 a month, you get the use of both services. You will get Spotify Premium and a basic Hulu subscription.
Although there are advertisements from sponsors (commercials) on Hulu, it is well worth the discounted price.
Users hoping to bundle HBO, Cinemax, or Showtime with their Hulu subscriptions will have to purchase a non-student subscription starting at $7.99 per month.
Getting your “Game of Thrones” or “Westworld” fix will run you $14.99 a month on top of the $7.99 base cost. Showtime costs an extra $8.99, and streaming movies on Cinemax will tack on $9.99 per month.
AMAZON PRIME:
Amazon has a fairly nifty deal for students. Amazon offers “Prime Student” where students can sign up for a six-month free trial (perfect for the length of a semester).
At the end, if you maintain your subscription, you can keep the service at a discount for up to four years until you graduate. However, you must be consistent with your status as active student. This deal is only $49 per year (a 50% discount over the regular advertised rate).
