Local: A Pocatello resident was featured on the cover of “Call of Duty”
Former Army Green Beret medic turned actor and Pocatello resident, Jeff Bosley, has been featured on the cover of “Call of Duty: Black Ops 4” as Tavo “Nomad” Rojas. Within days of the game’s release, Bosely started receiving emails from fans with pictures of his face on large posters as Nomad. Bosely says you know you’ve made it big when your face is on a giant New York Times billboard as a videogame character.
Regional: An East Idaho man has been accused of raping an adolescent girl ‘60 to 85’ times
James David Hill, 29, from Sugar City faces charges for allegedly raping an adolescent girl 60 to 85 times between 2014 and 2016. The victim called Madison County authorities after Hill was released from prison for a burglary sentence and reported the alleged years of crimes. The victim would babysit Hill’s children. The victim said the abuse started with groping and escalated to rape, with the first incident of groping during a movie they were watching together. She said that Hill was intimidating and she was afraid to report him. Neighbors and people close to Hill also report troubling behavior. A preliminary hearing is scheduled at the Madison County Courthouse April 15.
Statewide: ‘Idafornia’ t-shirt sparks tension between Idaho natives and California transplants
After Idaho artist Scott Pentzer posted a photo online of his children wearing ‘Idafornia’ t-shirts he designed and the photos sparked online debate about the shirt’s message and california transplants. Pentzer said the most vocal people in the comments were Idaho natives who thought the shirt celebrated California transplants, when Pentzer says the shirt was just meant to be a funny social commentary on the amount of Californians moving to Idaho. Pentzer said that both sides fired at each other with vulgar language and he had to explain he was a born and raised Idahoan.
National: The FBI opened an inquiry into whether Trump was secretly working on behalf of Russia
Reports came out that after President Trump fired then FBI Director James Comey, law enforcement officials began investigating whether he had been working on behalf of Russia against American interests. The investigation delved into whether Trump had knowingly or unwittingly fallen under Russia’s influence and legal implications of whether or not Trump’s firing of Comey constituted an obstruction of justice. Robert Mueller’s investigation opened just days after the FBI began their inquiry, and Mueller’s investigation looked at a wider picture of Russian influence in the 2016 election. More news on this matter is expected to come out in the following days.
International: Three skiers were killed in an Austrian avalanche and another one is still missing
Three German skiers were killed in an avalanche on the Northern Alps in Austria and another skier in the group has not been recovered. In another accident in France, two ski patrollers were killed when the devices they use to trigger avalanches exploded. The bodies of the 57, 36, and 32 year old German men were recovered late on Saturday evening near a ski resort of Lech after the wife of one of the skiers reported them missing. Austrian police had to call the search off for the 28 year old fourth skier that has not been recovered. Authorities say the group of four skied onto a closed trail when the avalanche happened.
