Fall intramurals

Idaho State University offers many services to students and faculty but one of the most utilized is the intramural sports program. For students who have never played intramural sports at ISU or never signed up for them using the intramural league’s website, consider this your primer.
Last year Idaho State University switched its intramural sign ups to an online system to encourage more participation and streamline the process. The site was a huge success, offering a much easier way to network with friends and invite them to intramural teams.
The sign up process is relatively simple, with a few caveats. The first step in joining an intramural team is to go to www.imleagues.com/isu. For first time users, there will be a button in the upper right hand corner that says “Create Account.” It will have some standard information to enter; however, when entering your email be sure to use your Idaho State University email account.
Once students are logged in, there will be a list of sports under the tab that says “Idaho State University.” To join or make a team all that you have to do is click on the link for a particular sport and there will be an option to “join”or “make” a team. When making a team there will be options to invite people via their Imleagues account, Facebook account or email. Just make sure that when your friends sign up they register on the Imleagues site first.
Currently there are signups for flag football, volleyball, indoor soccer and three-on-three basketball.
Signups for flag football are open until Sept. 10. There are both men’s and co-ed leagues. The season starts on Sept. 10 and ends on Oct. 31 for both divisions.
Volleyball signups run from Sept. 13 to Oct. 1: there are both women’s and co-ed leagues. The seasons for both divisions run from Oct. 1 to Dec. 19.
Indoor soccer signups open on Sept. 13 and run to Oct. 1. There will be men’s, women’s and co-ed divisions. The season for soccer will run from Oct. 1 to Dec. 19.
Three-on-three basketball will also have men’s, women’s and co-ed leagues. The signups run from Oct. 4 to Oct. 22 with the season running from Oct. 22 to Dec. 19.
All sports feature a $50 fee per team for signing up; however, if more than half the team is from University Housing signups are free. Intramural leagues are a great way to make friends, get in shape and develop skills in sports you love. Some leagues are more competitive than others, so be sure to go to the campus recreation center if you want to find out what league to sign up for. Generally, co-ed leagues are more laid back but all of them are fun. The recreation center also gives prizes if your team wins the championship at an intramural sport.
If you have any issues signing up for an intramural sports team be sure to go to the campus recreation center and talk to the desk attendant. They will be able to tell you what you need to do to sign up, or who to talk to. Be sure to get your fees paid on time because there is a $20 fee for late signups.
