Born amongst the hype of the Stephen-King-novel-turned-film “It,” a little bit of Halloween jesting turned into a full-on business venture.

P-Town Clown Donut Delivery, a local business in Pocatello, has become known for delivering donuts to doorsteps in the from a clown much like that seen in the film.

The clown from P-Town Clown Donut Delivery, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed how a tricycle-riding clown came to deliver donuts.

“Last year, we delivered donuts to my mom and a friend, who owns a local business to give them a good scare,” the clown said. “They both laughed and loved it. They wanted us to deliver to other people on their behalf, and before we knew it, people were loving it and asking for more and more deliveries. It was so fun and that’s how our little business was born.”

Clowns and donuts are two vastly different things. There is no denying that many people are terrified of clowns and that only adds to the fun. For a family of six who adores Halloween, there is no better way to spend the holiday than delivering laughs and screams alongside tasty pastries.

“The animosity of the clown has been a big part of the fun,” the clown said. “We’ve had a blast as a family making the deliveries as well as laughing over people’s reactions. Some people love it. Others are genuinely scared of clowns. Overall, it’s just a fun thing to do this time of year.”

P-Town Donut Delivery paid a visit to ISU during Boss’s Week earlier this month. Its chosen victim was Kandi Turley-Ames, the dean of the College of Arts & Letters, in a spooky surprise orchestrated by her co-workers.

Turley-Ames was sitting securely in her office, working on paperwork, when she caught a costumed figure out of the corner of her eye.

“I was very surprised when the P-Town Clown appeared in my office,” Turley-Ames said. “I was really caught off guard. I knew everyone in our office was in good spirits that day, but I had no idea what was about to happen.”

Regardless what side of the spectrum you lie on when it comes to clowns, many who have experienced P-Town Donut Deliveries are in higher spirits after its services.

“The best part was that the College of Arts & Letters team were all there to celebrate the surprise and share donuts and hugs,” Turley Ames said. “I am very blessed to work with wonderful people every day …  The P-Town Clown made my day.”
