Students who haven’t had a chance to explore the Pond Student Union Building (PSUB) yet may be surprised to learn that ISU has a Craft Shop on campus.

The Craft Shop is located past the Games Center on the first floor of the PSUB. Free events for students and full-time assistance with craft projects are just some of the services the shop offers.

“On the first Tuesday of each month, we have a student craft night. It’s free,” said Mary Miller, director of the Craft Shop.

The first Thursday of each month is Family Craft Night, which is free and open to children and adults.

Those interested in woodworking can attend the Tuesday wood shop assistance nights from 6 to 8 p.m.

Fall classes offered by the Craft Shop include those teaching pottery, stained glass, glass bead making and decorative ceramic tiles. Varying in price from $48 to $65, the classes meet weekly during the fall.

Mini classes, usually meeting for just one evening, include moccasin making, dream catchers, hand painted silk scarves and glass icicles. The mini classes cost between $15 and $25 dollars.

Clubs are welcome in the Craft Shop for group events like tie-dyeing shirts or poster-making.

Want to paint some pottery? Purchase a pre-made bowl or mug from the Craft Shop and customize it with your own paint design.

Students can spend $2 for a day’s use of the Craft Shop, or $12 for an entire semester membership.

The Craft Shop is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

For more information, visit the Craft Shop’s website at www.isu.edu/stunion/craftshop or call (208) 282-3281.
