Alyson Hagy, author and English professor at University of Wyoming, will be visiting Idaho State University on Tuesday, Feb. 26, for a book signing at 6:30 p.m. in the Bengal Café. Hagy will also read from her novel “Boleto” following the signing, and her works will be available for purchase.
“She’s interested in interacting with the audience, so she’d be pleased to take any questions,” said Bethany Schultz-Hurst, an associate professor of English at ISU.
In addition to her book reading and signing, Hagy will be hosting a writing workshop for upper division creative writing majors and minors.
“We still have a couple of slots open, so students can contact me if they are interested,” said Schultz-Hurst.
Students interested in attending can get in touch with Schultz-Hurst via email at ude.usinull@htebuhcs.
Schultz-Hurst played a large part in bringing the author to ISU.
“I met Professor Hagy briefly last summer at the Jackson Hole Writers Conference,” Schultz-Hurst said. “I was already a huge fan of ‘Ghosts of Wyoming’ (her short story collection), so I invited her to come to ISU.”
“Funding for the event has generously been made possible by the English Department and by ISU’s Cultural Events Committee,” added Schultz-Hurst.
She also credited fellow ISU assistant professor of English Susan Goslee with making the event possible.
Hagy has written two novels and also has experience writing short stories. She has published four short fiction collections, and her work has been featured on National Public Radio and included in multiple literary reviews and magazines.
In addition, Hagy has earned numerous prizes for her writing and the National Endowment for the Arts has granted her a fellowship.
