CEDAR CITY, Utah – The Idaho State men’s and women’s cross country teams each finished second in the 2017 SUU Color Country Invitational on Oct. 7.

Jesse Allen and Wyatt Didericksen led the men’s team with Allen besting his teammate by a stride. He finished the 6K in sixth with a time of 18:59.90 and Didericksen finished in seventh place half a second later.

Joseph Simmons and Joseph Petty finished just outside of the top-10 in 11th and 12th respectively. Simmons finished at the 19:09.10 mark and Petty followed him across the line with 19:12.90 on the clock.

Ricky Kuciemba was the final scorer for ISU with a 15th-place, 19:22.00 finish. Freshman standout Garrett Condelario did not compete.

Southern Utah earned the men’s title with 22 points by securing five of the top-eight positions. Idaho State followed with 48 points and Utah Valley finished third with 57 points.

The Bengals were led by Rachel McGovern in the women’s 4K race. McGovern finished at the 14:44.00 mark in sixth place. Senior Samantha Johnston finished nearly eight seconds later in eighth and Katie Weedn finished in 12th place with a time of 15:12.50.

Freshmen Molly Olsen and Alex Orr rounded out the scoring for Idaho State in 21st and 25th respectively. Olsen finished at the 15:35.30 mark and Orr crossed the line with a time of 15:47.90. The Bengals raced without their top performer Jenica Dodge.

UVU won the women’s title with 20 points and ISU finished second with 59 points.

Idaho State returns to Pocatello, Idaho to host its only home meet of the season, the ISU Invitational, on Oct. 14. It is the final regular-season meet for the Bengals.
