The Stephens Performing Arts Center houses the main performance spaces of the Idaho State University School of Performing Arts. Students of theatre, music and dance, as well as guest performers, make use of the renowned facilities. The 123,000 square foot facility used 280,000 bricks in its construction and cost $34 million to construct.

Classes for theatre, dance and music students are held in the building as well. Students learn skills beyond performance, such as set construction.

“We’re trying to represent wood, brick and stone,” said senior Nick Hansen during one set design class.

The largest venue is the Joseph C. and Cheryl H. Jensen Grand Concert Hall. The hall is considerably one of the best halls in the world. Jensen Grand Concert Hall seats 1,200 people.

The Beverly B. Bistline Thrust Theatre utilizes a thrust stage for theatre performances. The stage extends out, allowing audience members to sit about three-fourths of the way around. The theatre can seat 450 people.

The Performing Arts Center also houses the James E. and Beverly Rogers Black Box Theatre, where audience members sit all around the stage.
