Sept. 6

Idaho State volleyball fell 3-0 to Valparaiso and Robert Morris, 3-0, on Sept. 6 in Kent, Ohio.

Valparaiso

During the three-set match, the Bengals put up 30 kills led by senior Haylie Keck with nine, sophomore Duquesne Moratzka with eight, and senior Brooke Pehrson with six. Senior Nikole Cook had 14 assists followed by junior Chelsea Vaughan with 13.

Idaho State out-blocked Valparaiso eight to seven led by sophomore Raegan Steiner with five, Pehrson with four, and redshirt junior Maysie Rongen with three.

Robert Morris

Keck and Raegan Steiner led the team with seven kills each. Sophomore Mahala Bradburn recorded 20 digs. Vaughan tallied 17 assists and 11 digs.

“We are still working through the cognitive phase of playing volleyball and changing a few things,” Head Coach Sammi Stuart said. “I like the direction we are going, just need to keep chipping away.”

Sept. 7

Idaho State volleyball fell to Kent State 3-1 on Sept. 7 in their final match of the Kent State tournament.

Sophomore Raegan Steiner led the Bengals with 12 kills for a .357 hitting percentage followed by sophomore Duquesne Moratzka with 11 kills. Senior Haylie Keck recorded nine kills and 13 digs on the match.

Redshirt freshman Andri Dewey tallied 33 assists and nine digs.

“We are excited to get home and get some much needed rest and prep for our tournament at Washington State next week,” Head Coach Sammi Stuart said.

The Bengals travel to Pullman, Washington Sept. 13-14 to face Washington State (Sept. 13) at 1 p.m. (MST), Liberty University (Sept. 13) at 6 p.m. (MST), and Texas-Arlington (Sept. 14) at 1:30 p.m. (MST).

Boise

Idaho State soccer fell 1-0 to Boise State on Sept. 6 on the ICCU Practice Field.

The match remained scoreless through the first half until the Broncos netted a goal in the 63rd minute to give them a 1-0 lead.

Boise State out-shot the Bengals 20-6.

Goalkeeper Katie Hogarth recorded a season-high eight saves on the match.

Wyoming

Idaho State soccer fell 4-1 to Wyoming on Sept. 8 in Laramie, Wyoming.

Five minutes into the first half Wyoming scored from a header off a corner kick and would later score again to gain a 2-0 lead.

Senior Jazmin Lopez scored her first goal of the season, assisted by senior Makena Bambei, to put the Bengals on the board before the end of the first half.

The Cowgirls put up another two goals 12 minutes into the second half, leading them to a 4-1 victory.

“A very disappointing day for our team,” said head coach Debs Brereton. “We had an effective game plan coming in that was not executed to the best of our abilities. We created many very good chances that lacked composure in front of goal. Credit to Wyoming for capitalizing on some of our defensive errors. This is a resilient group and we will bounce back when we return home next week.”

Idaho State returns home on Friday, Sept. 13 to host Saint Mary’s at 11:30 a.m. (MST) on Davis Field.
