Idaho State University’s CommUniversity will hold its fourth annual Celebrate Idaho State event on March 18 at the Pond Student Union building.

Celebrate Idaho State is the other side of Welcome Back Orange and Black which is held in the fall.

having the same host marks the difference between the two events.

Welcome Back Orange and Black represents the partnership that exists between ISU and the community, allowing the community to showcase what it can offer the university.

Local businesses have the opportunity to set up booths and invite the ISU population to take part in their events.

Celebrate Idaho State is different in that campus organizations and departments set up booths catering to the enrichment of the community.

“Our goal is to put on two main events,” said CommUniversity board member and ISU student, Megan Moore. “In doing these two events, we are strengthening the bond between the university and the community.”

The primary purpose of this event is to showcase everything that ISU has to offer, free food and activities are offered as well.

“It brings the community onto the ISU campus to get to see first hand the various things that ISU has to offer,” said Valerie Davids, Student Activities Coordinator at ISU.

Celebrate Idaho State will feature a wide range of activities including free food, tours of the museum, and performances by members of the school of performing arts to name a few.

“Each year it is bigger and better,” said Moore. “Annually we get more booths and more people.”

The week of March 17 has been dubbed “Idaho State University Week” through the combined efforts of Pocatello Mayor Brian Blad and Chubbuck Mayor Kevin England.
