Junior Logan Henderson and Christoph Lange were named All-Conference on the second day of the Big Sky Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship hosted by Idaho State University.

Henderson finished in second-place in the heptathlon with a score of 5356 points.  He began competing in this multi-event with encouragement from his coach.

“I always thought it was an interesting event, so I thought I should give it a shot,” Henderson said.

He said he enters the heptathlon with a focus on staying even-keeled.

“You can’t get too down, and you can’t get too high. You just have to stay consistent and focus on the event at hand,” said Henderson.

Henderson also placed fifth in the men’s 4×400-meter relay with teammates Garret Wood, Corban Latimore and Jesse Sorenso. They finished with a time of 3.17.58.

Lange had a third-place finish in the heptathlon with a score of 5267 points.  He recalled that he used to qualify for many events at a time.

“It was natural to me to compete in the multi-events,” he said.

Lange said he enjoys the events with jumps but goes in with the same mindset in each: to do the best he can.

Senior Hayli Worthington said she prepared for the individual and team events the same, but, after the events, she has different feelings.

“If you feel like you let a team down, it’s worse than if you let yourself down,” she said.

Worthington competed in the women’s 400-meter previously in her college career.

She switched and competed in the women’s 800-meter and the women’s 4×400-meter relay over the weekend.

The switch was new to her, and she remembered questioning it at the beginning.

However, Worthington took on the new challenge her senior year.

“I really like new experiences, I felt like God was calling me to a new adventure. It’s been very fun getting to switch things around and try something completely new,” she said.

Worthington qualified for the women’s 800-meter with a preliminary time of 2.13.96 and finished fourth in finals with a time of 2.13.26.

Overall, Idaho State women finished in ninth place with 30 points and the Bengal men finished ninth with 36 points.

On March 20, Idaho State track and field opens its outdoor season with the CSUN Heptathlon/Decathlon.
