Bengals show strong outing in Bozeman at Big Sky Turner

The Idaho State University track and field teams wrapped up their final meet before the conference championships today in Bozeman, Mont.

The Bengals took the opportunity to fine tune their events and have a final strong showing against conference opponents Montana and Montana State.

Men’s Meet

The day opened with the men’s and women’s field events.

Keegan Luker finished second in the weight throw with a mark of 16.96m (55’ 7.75”).

In the high jump, the Bengals took second and third, with Owen Mitchell finishing second with a height of 1.99m (6’ 6.25”) and Adam Elorrieta jumping a height of 1.94m (6’ 4.25”) for third.

In the running events, Jesse Allen finished second in the mile with a time of 4:18.81.

Cal Duke won the 400m, running a time of 50.12 seconds.

In the men’s 800m, Bryce Balenseifen finished fourth with a time of 1:56.22

In a strong showing of strength and depth in the sprints, Idaho State took four out of the top-five spots in the 60m dash.

Treyshon Malone won the event, tying his personal best with a time of 6.76 seconds. Tanner Conner came in second running a time of 6.92 seconds and Cory Mullanix finished third with a time of 7.05 seconds. To round out the top five, Caleb Brown finished fifth with a time of 7.11 seconds.

Kodee Vining picked up his first win of the year in the men’s 200m. Vining ran a time of 22.31 to edge out the runners from Montana and win the event.

Malone won the 60mH with a time of 8.11. He was followed by Brown who finished fourth with a time of 8.28 seconds.

The 4×400 team of Elorrieta, Markos Huerta, Tyler Johnson and Duke won the event, running a time of 3:22.79

Tyler Valenzuela finished second in the pole vault with a personal best height of 4.90m (16’ 0.75”).

Malone picked up his third win of the day in the men’s long jump recording a jump of 7.34m (24’ 1”) to earn the victory.

Chase Gardom finished second in the triple jump with a personal best mark of 14.09m (46’ 2.75”).

Women’s Meet

Madison Cicierski opened the meet for the Bengals winning the weight throw with a mark of 16.60m (54’ 5.5”).

The Bengals finished first and second in the women’s pole vault. Brooke Anger won her fifth meet of the indoor season, vaulting a height of 3.81m (12’ 6”). Louise Lallement took second with a vault of 3.66m (12’ 0”).

Olivia Holmes won the 200m with a time of 25.63 seconds. Michaela Didericksen finished second with a time of 25.95.

Indi Gallagher set a new personal record, winning the 400m with a time of 58.16 seconds. Ashley Hutchinson finished second with a time of 1:00.83

Molly Olsen won the women’s mile with a time of 5:07.78.

In the women’s 60mH, Brianna VanVleet finished second with a time of 9.16 seconds and Kyndal Martin came in third, running a time of 9.21 seconds

In the 800m, Mary Kate Marshall finished fourth overall and Presli Timmons came in fifth.

Ashley VanVleet-Sturgis came in third in the high jump with a mark of 1.63m (5’ 5”).

The 4×400 team of Holmes, VanVleet, Gallaher and VanVleet Sturgis finished first with a time of 3:55.46.

Next weekend, the Bengals are home for the final time this season as they host the 2020 Big Sky Conference Indoor

Track and Field Championships. The meet begins Thursday, Feb. 27, in Holt Arena at 10 a.m.
